Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report

THE FLATS – The PGA Tour moves to Florida this week, and eight former Yellow Jackets come with it … Kuchar’s earnings almost twice his entire 2017-18 take … this and more in the Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report.

Eight of the nine former Georgia Tech players on the PGA Tour are in the field this week as the PGA Tour begins its Florida swing with the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, the first of four consecutive events in the Sunshine State. Anders Albertson, Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley, Seth Reeves and Richy Werenski all return to action after skipping last week’s Puerto Rico Open. Hadley (No. 42), Werenski (57) and Albertson (82) all begin the swing in the top 100 of the FedEx Cup points list, while Cink and Reeves are outside the top 125.

Roberto Castro, Ollie Schniederjans and Cameron Tringale, each of whom earned checks in Puerto Rico last weekend, also are competing at PGA National’s Champions course. Castro (No. 124) and Tringale (No. 181) tied for 25th in the event and made significant improvements in their standing, while Schniederjans tied for 49th place and held his position at No. 189.

Only Matt Kuchar is not playing this week after tying for 50th place at last week’s World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. After a hot start (66-67) to hold third place after 36 holes, Kuchar faded to a 79-74 finish over the weekend. He remained No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings and surpassed the $3 million mark in earnings this season, nearly twice his total take from 2017-18.

Elsewhere: Larry Mize is back in action this weekend as the PGA Tour Champions resumes its schedule after a week off with the Cologuard Classic in Tucson, Ariz. The Web.com Tour remains idle until March 21-24.
