Georgia Tech #ProJackets Basketball Report

Jan. 11, 2018

THE FLATS Jarrett Jack continued his good play in 2018, recording a triple double against the Bulls … Derrick Favors tallied back-to-back double-doubles … Marcus Georges-Hunt had his 2017-18 contract guaranteed through end of the season … Thaddeus Young neared two double-doubles as Pacers won two of last three … All of that and more can be found in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Basketball Report.

An ankle injury sidelined Derrick Favors on Jan. 10 when the Utah Jazz faced off against the Washington Wizards. Favors had recorded back-to-back double-doubles previously, going for 14 and 10 against Denver and 11 and 10 versus Miami. Favors also rejected three shots in the loss to the Nuggets. The tight 107-104 victory over Washington snapped a three-game skid for the Jazz, as they’ll look to continue forward the momentum with win at Charlotte on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.

Marcus Georges-Hunt had his contract guaranteed through the rest of the year this week, with Georges-Hunt saying he’s happy to be sticking around with the Timberwolves . Winning their last three games, the Wolves had utilized Georges-Hunt more, topping with an 11-minute outing against Oklahoma City. In the game, he grabbed three rebounds after scoring four points against Cleveland two days prior. Minnesota will look to continue their climb in the Western Conference as they host New York on Friday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m.

At the youthful age of 34, Jarrett Jack became the oldest New York Knick to register a triple-double since 2002 (Mark Jackson) and the first of any age since 2012 (Carmelo Anthony). Jack finished with 16 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds in the 122-119 double-overtime loss to the Bulls on Wednesday. Despite the loss and the current skid, Jack believes the Knicks have to fall back on their identity to get back to where they were . New York will try to bounce back from the backbreaking loss when it heads to Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m.

continues to recover from a knee injury ultimately required arthroscopic surgery on Dec. 1. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that he is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Shumpert had missed five of the previous six games before the decision was made.

Winning two of their three games last week, the Pacers were able to win convincingly against Milwaukee and Chicago, but fell by eight to Miami. Thaddeus Young neared a double-double in the last two games, tallying 15 points and eight rebounds against the Bucks and 12 points and nine rebounds against the Heat as he continues to be the rock of Indiana’s offense despite working his way back from nagging midseason injuries. The Pacers will look to continue their better play of late when they host Cleveland on Friday at 7 p.m.
