GREENSBORO, N.C. – Defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georgia Tech was picked to finish second in the 2006 ACC baseball season, as determined by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.
Clemson was picked first after receivince eight first-place votes and a total of 139 points in balloting.
Georgia Tech was picked to finish second in the conference, receiving two first-place votes and 128 total points. The Yellow Jackets return eight starters in the field and eight of their top 10 pitchers from last year’s squad that went 45-19 and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals.
North Carolina was picked to finish third, receiving two first-place votes and 126 points. Rounding out the preseason poll in predicted order of finish are Florida State (107 points), Miami (95), NC State (86), Virginia (72), Wake Forest (59), Boston College (41), Maryland (38), Virginia Tech (30) and Duke (15).
