THE FLATS – No. 24 Georgia Tech volleyball will welcome South Carolina to O’Keefe Gymnasium on Saturday for a 4 p.m. exhibition contest, serving as the Jackets’ final preseason test.
Admission to the scrimmage is free, and doors open at 3 p.m. Fans may park in the McCamish Pavilion lot or in the East O’Keefe Gymnasium lot.
Tech was recently picked to finish third in the ACC for the second consecutive year as 2020-21 AVCA All-Americans Mariana Brambilla and Julia Bergmann were named preseason all-ACC. The pair was also selected preseason all-ACC before becoming unanimous first team all-ACC selections in 2020-21.
Joining Brambilla and Bergmann on the 2021 squad are eight more returners from the 2020-21 team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament, including All-ACC Second Team selection and former ACC Setter of the Year Matti McKissock and all other starters. The incumbents are joined by eight newcomers, including Nebraska transfer Nicole Drewnick and Miami Dade transfer Paola Pimentel along with six incoming freshmen.
Following the exhibition, Tech will open the regular season on the road at the UCF Challenge by taking on No. 12 Penn State and UCF (Aug. 27) in Orlando, Fla. The Jackets will make their official return to O’Keefe Gymnasium hosting the Georgia Tech Classic, beginning with Mississippi State (Sept. 9).
