Four Yellow Jackets Tabbed to 2007 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team

July 9, 2007

ATLANTA – Four Yellow Jackets, including 2007 MLB Draft picks Jared Hyatt and Michael Fisher as well as starting infielders Brad Feltes and Tony Plagman, were named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, as announced Monday by Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John D. Swofford.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA during his academic career.

Hyatt was the only member of the 40-person team that was also tabbed to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team, while Fisher was one of nine players, including Hyatt, to be drafted in the 2007 MLB Draft.

Feltes, a rising senior that has played primarily third base during his career on the Flats, and Tony Plagman, a first-year player that became the Yellow Jackets’ starting first baseman early in 2007, joined Fisher and Hyatt as first-time selections on the team.

Florida State secured seven selections to lead all ACC schools, while Virginia Tech and Wake Forest had five players apiece tabbed to the team. Georgia Tech, Duke and Virginia landed four picks while Clemson, Maryland and NC State had three nods apiece.
