Four Yellow Jackets Ranked in Preseason ITA Poll

ATLANTA – Four Yellow Jackets, let by All-American Kristi Miller, earned rankings in the first ITA Poll of the season, as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday afternoon.

Miller, the 2005 ACC and ITA Rookie of the Year, earns the highest ranking for any women’s tennis player in the history of the program, as the Marysville, Mich. native is eighth in the nation in singles, according to the preseason rankings.

The sophomore teams with junior Alison Silverio to form the country’s fifth-ranked duo, which is also the highest ranking for any doubles team in Georgia Tech history.

Silverio, the 2005 ACC Tournament MVP, also earns the first singles ranking in her career, as she appears at No. 106 in the polls.

Senior Kelly Anderson, the 2003 ACC Rookie of the Year, is ranked No. 103 in the nation in singles play, while junior Tarryn Rudman, a transfer from Mississippi State, stands at No. 104.

The Yellow Jackets will begin the fall by attending the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational in Thomasville, Ga., September 16-18 before traveling to Waco, Texas to participate in the Rice Fall Invitational September 23-25.
