THE FLATS – The ACC Coastal Division champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are ranked 12th in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches Top 25 polls released Sunday.
Georgia Tech (10-2) extended its winning streak to five games with a heart-pounding 30-24 OT road win over in-state rival Georgia, snapping its five-game losing streak to the Bulldogs. The Yellow Jackets now lead the ACC in 15 major categories, while leading the FBS in 3rd down conversion percentage (57.4) and blocked kicks (6). The Jackets also rank in the top five of nine different categories in the FBS.

The Jackets clinched their ninth 10-win season in program history – 1928 (10-0), 1947 (10-1), 1951 (11-0-1), 1952 (12-0), 1956 (10-1), 1990 (11-0-1), 1998 (10-2), and 2009 (11-3). It is also the Jackets’ fourth 10-win season of the ACC era.
Georgia Tech faces defending national champion and second-ranked Florida State on Saturday in the 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game in Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC. It will be Georgia Tech’s fourth appearance in the ACC Championship Game (2006, 2009, 2012).
