THE FLATS – Representatives from all 32 National Football League teams were on hand Monday to see 18 former Georgia Tech football student-athletes audition for a career in professional football during Tech’s Annual Pro Day at the Brock Indoor Practice Facility.
The 18 former Yellow Jackets that participated included: defensive tackle Djimon Brooks (who measured officially at 6-1, 286 pounds), defensive back Tariq Carpenter (6-3, 230), defensive end Antonneous Clayton (6-3, 255), offensive lineman Devin Cochran (6-7, 306), tight end/long snapper Jack Coco (6-2, 248), linebacker Quez Jackson (6-0, 221), offensive lineman Ryan Johnson (6-6, 314), linebacker Bruce Jordan-Swilling (6-0, 215), punter Austin Kent (6-1, 217), offensive lineman Kenneth Kirby (6-4, 305), running back Jordan Mason (5-11, 223), wide receiver Kyric McGowan (5-11, 200), defensive back Tobias Oliver (6-0, 204), wide receiver Azende Rey (5-11, 215), defensive back Tre Swilling (6-1, 196), defensive back Juanyeh Thomas (6-1, 213), running back Jerry Howard, Jr.* (5-11, 222) and defensive back Ajani Kerr** (5-11, 203).
In addition to having their official heights and weights recorded, the professional football hopefuls were put through a wide variety of speed and strength measurements, including the bench press, 40-yard dash, short-shuttle and three-cone runs, broad jump and vertical jump. Carpenter and Mason had some of the most impressive showings of the day, including both clocking sub-4.5-second 40-yard times. Carpenter also had a 39-inch vertical jump (which is just a half-inch shy of the highest jump by a DB at the 2022 NFL Combine) and an 11-4 broad jump, while Mason bench-pressed 225 pounds 21 times (which would have tied for tops among all RBs at this year’s Combine).
Other top performances included Brooks, Clayton, Cochran, Coco, Johnson, Kirby, McGowan and Oliver on the bench press (all had 20-plus reps), Swilling, Jordan-Swilling and McGowan on the vertical jump (37, 36 and 35.5 inches, respectively), Swilling and Thomas on the short-shuttle (4.15 and 4.18 seconds, respectively) and Swilling, Oliver and McGowan on the broad jump (10-6, 10-3 and 10-2, respectively).
The prospects also performed in a variety of position-specific on-field drills.
Up next is the 2022 NFL Draft, which will be held April 28-30 in Las Vegas.

Harvin and Camp wowed those in attendance, a group that included new Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith. Harvin punted 35+ times, and also displayed his ability to hold for field goals and PATs, as well as throw out of a punt formation. Measuring 6-2 and weighing in at 226 pounds, Camp ran the 40-yard dash in a sizzling 4.43 seconds and reached 39.5 inches on the vertical jump. He also bench-pressed 225 pounds a whopping 30 times, which would have shattered the record for a wideout at the NFL Combine, which is 27.
Georgia Tech’s other representatives included defensive back Jaytlin Askew and wide receiver Josh Blancato. Looking to follow in the footsteps of former Yellow Jacket Nathan Cottrell, who turned his special-teams prowess at Georgia Tech into a roster spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020, both Askew (4.50) and Blancato (4.49) ran their 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds or less.
Tech linebacker David Curry was measured on Tuesday (6-1, 227 pounds) but, due to a minor injury, will showcase his skills for NFL personnel at a later date.
