THE FLATS – Redshirt sophomore Jackson Finley (Richmond Hill, Ga./Richmond Hill) powered Georgia Tech baseball to a perfect 4-0 week, hitting four home runs and earning the decision win on Sunday vs. Gardner-Webb to be named National Player of the Week, Collegiate Baseball announced Monday.
The Yellow Jackets’ two-way talent hit a blistering .412 on the week, including four home runs and two doubles for seven hits total. His performance at the plate drove home a team-high 12 RBI as he slugged 1.235 and tallied an on-base percentage of .474.
In addition to his work with the bat, he was equally impressive on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings in his start on Sunday against Gardner-Webb, allowing just two runs on eight hits with no walks compared to four strikeouts. He earned his second winning decision of the season to help Tech sweep the Runnin’ Bulldogs and extend its win streak to five games.
On the season, Finley has worked to a terrific .322 batting average in 41 games played. He’s recorded 49 hits, 15 doubles and a team-best 17 home runs for 57 RBI. In the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Richmond Hill native ranks third in RBI, fourth in home runs, fifth in slugging percentage (.757), sixth in total bases (115), and eighth in doubles.
On the mound, he’s worked to a 5.18 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 10 starts for the Yellow Jackets.
Finley and Georgia Tech will get the week off to finish final exams before concluding its homestand with a crucial ACC series against Pitt on May 5-7. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
