THE FLATS – Jackson Finley beat out a fielder’s choice RBI to tie the game in the ninth before launching a walkoff grand slam in the 10th inning to power Georgia Tech baseball to a 12-8 win over Auburn on Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (20-13) loaded the bases in back-to-back innings, but struggled to bring home the winning run until Finley came to the plate in the 10th with two outs to hit his 12th home run of the season. The 10th-inning rally started with a leadoff double by Jadyn Jackson before Jake DeLeo was intentionally walked. Kristian Campbell then drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases.

LHP Dalton Smith (2-0) turned in his second-straight strong appearance, pitching a 1-2-3 top of the 10th to earn his second win of the season. Overall Tech was strong on the mound, pitching 10 arms and walking just two batters compared to the Tigers (19-13-1), who walked 12 on the night.

Starter RHP Logan McGuire punched out four in 2.0 innings, giving up just one run on three hits before LHP Camron Hill and RHP Aeden Finateri pitched a scoreless third and fourth innings. LHP Cody Carwile and RHP Jackson Vaughan combined to take the fifth and sixth before RHP Ben King and RHP Joseph Mannelly got to the eighth.

RHP Demitri Diamant struggled with two runs scored against him in the eighth before RHP Terry Busse came in. In 1.2 innings, Busse allowed his most runs of the season (three).

At the plate, Tech was led overall by Jadyn Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Angelo Dispigna mashed a two-run double in the first to put Tech on top originally in his two-hit day. Nicholas Romano also finished with two hits. Finley finished with five RBI on his one hit while Jake DeLeo had three RBI on his two-run homer in the second inning before drawing a bases-loaded RBI walk. Kristian Campbell drove in a run.

Auburn was led by Bobby Peirce, who was 5-for-5 with a double. RHP Will Cannon (2-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs on two hits in 1.2 innings to close.

Georgia Tech now heads on the road to take on ACC Coastal Division foe Virginia Tech on April 14-16. First pitch is set for Friday at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
