Field Set for College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – The stands at the College World Series will have a decidedly red look again this year. Cornhusker red.

Nebraska, who its super regional over the weekend against Richmond, will take the short 60-mile trip from Lincoln to Omaha later this week for its second straight appearance in college baseball’s eight-team, double-elimination tournament for the national title.

After Sunday’s super regionals, seven of the eight teams were set. Notre Dame beat Florida State 3-1 on Monday in the final game of their best-of-three series after rains delayed the second game Saturday.

The CWS, played at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium, will begin Friday with Georgia Tech (51-14) playing South Carolina (53-16). Nebraska (47-19) will play Clemson (52-15) that night.

On Saturday, Notre Dame (49-16) will play Stanford (45-16), and Texas (53-15) will face Rice (52-12).

The losers of Friday’s games will play Sunday in an elimination game, while the winners in that bracket will play Sunday night.

Saturday’s losers will play Monday in an elimination game; the winners will play Monday night.

The championship game is June 22.

Miami, last year’s champion, was eliminated in the super regionals by South Carolina.
