THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis junior Carlos Divar received an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships as the subcommittee announced on Tuesday the 64 singles players selected to compete. Last season, Divar paired with Michael Kay in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Doubles Tournament.

Divar currently ranks No. 30 in the country, according to the latest ITA poll, boasting a 14-7 overall record. He played most of the season at the No. 1 singles position, where he earned 10 singles victories, including a defeat over the No. 2 player in the country Jan Zielinski, 6-3, 6-4.

An All-ACC first team selection, Divar was also named ACC co-player of the week for his two wins over then-No. 22 Alexis Galarneau of NC State, 7-6 (7), 7-5, and over then-No. 115 Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff of Louisville, 7-5, 6-3.

In the same week, Divar and Phillip Gresk were named ACC doubles team of the week for their ranked victories over No. 47 Galarneau/Michael Ogden, 7-6 (7) of NC State and No. 90 Morin-Kougoucheff/Fabien Salle of Louisville, 6-1.

The singles and doubles competition will take place May 20-25 on the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., after the conclusion of the team championships, which runs May 16-19.
