Daniel Miller Signs Financial Aid Agreement With Tech

April 22, 2009

ATLANTA – Daniel Miller, a 6-11 basketball player from Loganville Christian Academy in Loganville, Ga., has signed a financial aid agreement with Georgia Tech, and he will enroll at the Institute in the fall and play basketball for the Yellow Jackets.

Rated as high as No. 98 in the nation currently, the 240-pound center was rated the ninth-best prospect at his position nationally by Rivals.com in the fall, and the No. 8 center prospect by ESPN.com. Miller originally signed a letter-of-intent in the fall to play at Georgia, but was released from that letter Tuesday.

“We feel very fortunate to add a student-athlete of Daniel Miller’s caliber to our recruiting class,” said head coach Paul Hewitt. “My staff and I are looking forward to the opportunity to work with him. We feel that he will fit in great with our other players and take full advantage of our player development program.”

Miller led Loganville Christian Academy to three consecutive championships of the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia-Alabama (ICSGA), and was named MVP in the conference in 2008 and 2009. As a senior last year, he led LCA to a 26-1 overall record, 11-0 in the ICSGA, while averaging 20.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He also averaged 5.0 blocks, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals, while finishing his three-year career with 1,444 total points. As a junior, Miller averaged 28.8 points, 12.3 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game while ICA went 20-1.

He joins a class that already has been ranked No. 3 nationally by Rivals.com — 6-9 forward Derrick Favors of South Atlanta High School, 6-8 forward Kammeon Holsey of Hancock Central High School in Sparta, Ga., 6-4 guard Brian Oliver of William Penn High School in New Castle, Del. 6-5 guard Glen Rice, Jr., of Walton High School in Marietta, Ga., and 6-3 point guard Mfon Udofia of Miller Grove High School in Stone Mountain, Ga.
