Cross Country Heads to ACC Championship

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country is headed to the 2023 ACC Championships, which will take place Friday, Oct. 27 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. The men will compete in the 8K race which is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 6K race starting at 9:30 a.m.  

The ACC Championships will feature several high-ranking programs. The women will face No. 2 NC State, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 10 Virginia, No. 28 Syracuse and No. 30 Duke. The men are set to compete against No. 4 Syracuse, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 16 Virginia and No. 20 Wake Forest.  

 

At the 2022 ACC Championships, the women finished tenth and the men came in 11th place. Among notable alum runners that competed well at last year’s championship, Tech returns this year with many seasoned runners.  

The women will be led by senior Kate Jortberg (Glenview, Ill.), junior Mary Brady (Avondale Estates, Ga.), and senior Katy Earwood (Martinez, Ga.). Graduate Zach Jaeger (Peachtree City, Ga.), senior John Higinbotham (Covington, Ga.), senior Chris Cherono (Eldoret, Kenya) are returning to the ACC Championship for the men.
