THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s cross country runner Sarah Copeland has been named ACC Women’s Co-Freshman of the Week, the ACC announced on Tuesday. Copeland comes off an impressive outing at the Kennesaw State Opener where she finished fourth overall in the 4K race with a time of 14:19.6.
Copeland comes to Atlanta from South Africa and credits her teammates for helping her get ready for her success on the course. “The team has really helped me settle in. They’re super welcoming and helpful. If I needed this or that, they would take care of me,” Copeland said of the support group she has here at Tech.
The White and Gold finished first on both the men’s and women’s side at the Kennesaw State Opener. The women had four of the top five finishers at the meet including Copeland. Cross country’s next meet is Sept. 24 in St. Paul, Minn. at the Roy Griak Invitational. The women’s team was ranked No. 25 in the preseason cross country rankings.
