ATLANTA – Construction is well underway on the new home of the Georgia Tech Softball program. Located at the corner of eighth and Fowler Streets in the heart of the Tech campus, the new stadium will provide the Yellow Jackets with a premier facility enabling them to host in-season tournaments, the ACC Tournament and NCAA regionals.
“We are so excited to be moving into a new stadium next year,” head coach Sharon Perkins said. “This is as much for the players now as it is for every student-athlete who has worn the Georgia Tech uniform. With the Atlanta skyline lit up behind the outfield fence, it will be one of the most picturesque stadiums in the nation. We are so grateful to the administration for allowing us to have a premier facility like this and can’t wait for our fans to have a chance to see some games in it.”
Late October Update
Use the photo galleries at the top of this page to check the progression of the stadium since its ground-breaking in mid-April. The grandstand is in place now as is most of the field. Sod is expected to be rolled out in the next week or so and the permanent seats behind home plate will soon be put in. This week, the screen was put up behind home plate as was the padding for the wall around the infield.
Also really beginning to take shape is the batting tunnel down the left-field line. The facility is spacious enough for three hitting cages and will enable the team to hit indoors year-round.
