FULL BIOGRAPHY
Coaching veteran Geep Wade is in his first season as Georgia Tech’s offensive line coach.
Wade boasts two decades of experience coaching offensive lines, including two seasons as an offensive coordinator, all in the Southeast. He most recently coached the offensive front at Appalachian State in 2022.
In Wade’s lone season at Appalachian State, the Mountaineers’ offensive front was a member of the Joe Moore Award (national offensive line of the year) midseason honor roll. App State finished the season ranked among the top 35 nationally in rushing offense (21st), scoring offense (23rd), total offense (26th) and fewest sacks allowed (34th). Three of the Mountaineers’ five starting offensive lineman earned all-Sun Belt Conference honors under Wade’s tutelage, including first-team selections Cooper Hodges and Anderson Hardy.
Wade’s extensive experience also includes stints at Georgia Southern (2021 – offensive line), UT Martin (2018 and 2009 – offensive coordinator/offensive line; 2006-28 – run game coordinator/offensive line), East Carolina (2016-17 – offensive line), Middle Tennessee (2013-15 – offensive line), Marshall (2012 – offensive line), Chattanooga (2010-11 – offensive line/recruiting coordinator; 2002 – restricted earnings), Midwestern State (2005 – offensive line); Tennessee (2004 – graduate assistant/offensive line) and Mars Hill (2003 – offensive line/recruiting coordinator). During his three seasons at Middle Tennessee, he teamed up with current Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, who was the Blue Raiders’ OC at the time.
Wade’s career highlights include coaching 21 all-conference honorees, five offensive linemen that have gone on to play in the National Football League and helping lead teams to three bowl appearances, including Southeastern Conference East Division champion Tennessee’s 38-7 rout over Texas A&M in the 2005 Cotton Bowl. In his first season at UT Martin (2006), the Skyhawks went 9-3 oveall, won a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title and made their first-ever NCAA Division I FCS playoff appearance.
He was a team captain and offensive lineman at Chattanooga from 1999-2001. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from UTC in 2022.
His first name, Geep, is derived from the initials G.P. (Gideon Pillow Wade IV). He and his wife, Amy, have a daughter, Emma Kate, and a son, Jackson.
