Alison Silverio is in her fourth season as the Georgia Tech women[apos]s tennis assistant coach in 2013-14. During her first four seasons as an assistant at her alma mater, the Yellow Jackets advanced to two ITA National Indoor Championships and four NCAA Tournaments, making the round of 16 twice.
During her first season back on the Flats, Silverio helped the Yellow Jackets to a 15-11 record, a 5-6 mark in ACC play, a No. 13 final ranking and an NCAA Tournament berth where the Jackets advanced to the round of 16 for the sixth time. Jillian O[apos]Neill earned a trip to the NCAA Singles Championship and finished the year ranked No. 30. Christina Ngo, No. 65, and Caroline Lilley, No. 104, also finished the season ranked. O[apos]Neill and Lilley finished the season ranked No. 15 in doubles play but didn[apos]t play enough matches together to earn a trip to the NCAA Doubles Championship.
The Yellow Jackets finished 2012 with a 16-12 record, a 6-5 mark in ACC action, a No. 20 final ranking and another trip to the NCAA Tournament. Tech tallied a 4-3 upset at No. 8 Alabama in the NCAA Second Round to earn its seventh trip to the round of 16. O[apos]Neill again earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Singles Championship, and earned All-America honors by virtue of being a top 16 seed and finishing the year ranked No. 12. Lilley finished the season ranked No. 104 for the second straight year. O[apos]Neill and Alex Anghelescu were selected to the NCAA Doubles Championship and finished ranked No. 23. Lynn Blau and Elizabeth Kilborn were also ranked to end the year, coming in at No. 54.
The 2013 Yellow Jackets completed he season with a 15-10 record and a 7-4 mark in the ACC. The Jackets reached its highest ranking of the season in the ITA rankings at #19 during the week of April 9th. Tech defeated nine ranked teams, including four that were ranked in the top-25.
Freshman Kendal Woodard was honored on the 2013 All-ACC Women[apos]s Tennis Team while Elizabeth Kilborn, Megan Kurey and Elizabeth Kurey were all named to the All-ACC Academic team during Silverio[apos]s third season.
During the fall of her fourth season, sophomores Megan Kurey and Kendal Woodard won the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships doubles title. The duo also captured the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Doubles title during the fall. Kurey and Woodard were ranked as the number one doubles team in the country on February 11, 2014 and received the #6 seed in the 2014 NCAA doubles championships. Woodard garnered conference honors for the second season in a row after being named to the All-ACC First Team while Kurey was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
The Yellow Jackets went 14-10 overall and 9-5 in the ACC during Silverio[apos]s fourth season with the Jackets. Tech closed out the 2014 regular season with an exciting 4-3 win against No. 1 Duke. In 2014, Tech received its 15th straight berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Yellow Jackets defeated Purdue in the first round, 4-0, before falling to overall nine seed Vanderbilt, 4-2, in the second round.
Prior to returning to her alma mater, Silverio served as the NC State assistant women[apos]s tennis coach from 2008 to 2010. Silverio led the 2007 Georgia Tech tennis team to the NCAA championship and was also named NCAA Tournament MVP. She was a four-time letterwinner and helped steer the Jackets to three-straight ACC championships in addition to the NCAA title.
Silverio was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team in 2005 and 2007, and was named ACC Tournament MVP in 2005. A team captain her senior year, Silverio graduated as the school[apos]s all-time leader in doubles wins (98), second in singles wins (107) and fourth in singles winning percentage (.711).
An outstanding student, Silverio was named to the ACC Honor Roll and the ACC All-Academic Team each of her four seasons in Atlanta. She was named to Georgia Tech[apos]s Dean[apos]s List all four years and won the ITA Scholar Athlete Award in 2005 and 2007. In addition, Silverio earned an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship in 2007. She also collected the 2007 ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship after her senior season and was a member of the Georgia Tech Student Athletic Advisory Board.
Silverio graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in management and a 3.41 overall GPA.
