Casillas Qualifies for USA Diving Senior Nationals

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Rising junior diver Matt Casillas competed in the 3-meter diving event at the 2017 USA Diving National Preliminary Zone A Championships on Thursday in Huntersville, N.C.

In the Senior Men’s 3m Springboard event, Casillas posted a score of 277.40 to advance into the finals.

In the finals, the Tech diver recorded a score of 335.40 to place sixth overall. With his sixth-place finish and one of the top-five divers already having prequalified for the USA Diving Senior Nationals, Casillas earned a spot in the 3-meter dive at the national championships in August.

Casillas will look to qualify in the 1-meter springboard dive on Saturday, July 1, and the men’s platform event on Sunday, July 2.
