Broderick Snoddy Sets School Record At Auburn Indoor Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Georgia Tech running back and newest addition to the men’s track and field team Broderick Snoddy set a new school record in his track and field debut at the Auburn Indoor Invite Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Snoddy ran the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.75 in the finals after a 6.80 qualifying time, topping teammate Perron Jones’ 6.77 set last season. He also recorded a fifth place finish in the 200 meters (21.51).

The men’s team saw further success as senior Shawn Roberts set a new meet record and career-best time of 4:07.42 to claim first place in the mile run.

Mykhail Chambers placed third in the high jump with a leap of 2.09m (6-10.25), while freshman Myles McDavid improved his long jump distance from last weekend to 7.06m (23-02.00) to place fifth.

Jonathan Gardner logged a sixth place finish in the triple jump in his first meet of 2013 (14.76m; 48-05.25) and McDavid took ninth in the same event (14.52m; 47-07.75).

Zack Fanelty improved his 800-meter time to 1:53.19 for seventh place and Cole Jackob took 10th in the same race with a time of 1:54.83.

On the women’s side, Samantha Becker matched her career-best with a pole vault of 3.70m (12-01.50). Also in the field events, Jasmine Kent placed 16th in the long jump with a distance of 5.47m (17-11.50).

Freshman Donjhae Jones improved her 60-meter hurdles time to 9.01 and Maria Boff shaved five seconds off her mile time (5:15.54) to finish first for Tech.

Elena Hubbard took almost 10 seconds off her 3,000-meter time from a week ago to cross the line first for Tech with a time of 10:42.92, followed by Diana Pressel’s time of 10:45.08.

The combination of Ama Larbi, Jones, Alex Braxton and Christina Pensock took 10th in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:56.59.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Jan. 25-26 in Lexington, Ky. at the Rod McCravy Invitational.
