TOP STORYLINES

• Georgia Tech baseball kicks off the 2023 regular season at home against the alma mater of head coach Danny Hall, Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 17-19 at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

• Georgia Tech and Miami (Ohio) have never squared off on the diamond and will be meeting for the first time.

• A revamped Yellow Jackets club is looking to replace the No. 1 offense in the country last season, and is bolstered by the No. 3-ranked recruiting class.

• Tech does return the bats of Drew Compton and Stephen Reid, while also getting a healthy Jake DeLeo, who was limited to just 30 games last season.

• Also returning is Jadyn Jackson at shortstop and Jack Rubenstein behind the dish.

• Making their way into the starting discussion this year will be John Giesler, Kristian Campbell and transfer Angelo Dispigna.

• A transfer from Mercer, Dispigna joins Drew Byers (Samford), Nathan Smith (Tennessee), Jackson Vaughan (Pacific), and Terry Busse (John A. Logan) in newcomers on The Flats.

• On the mound this weekend will be Dawson Brown, Logan McGuire and Jackson Finley.

• Brown led Tech with five saves last season out of the bullpen and will transition into a starting role for the first time with the Jackets.

• McGuire had a fine freshman campaign, getting four wins in 18 appearances and four starts last season. He had by far the best strikeout-to-walk ratio on the team with a 36:4 mark.

• Finley returns from injury that took him out of 2021 entirely and held him down to just four late innings in 2022. With a high-90s fastball, the redshirt sophomore is ready to be healthy and a full go this season.

• Georgia Tech has experienced significant success when opening the season at home.

• The Yellow Jackets are an impressive 28-1 in home openers on The Flats, since 1994 when skipper Danny Hall arrived.

• Tech has also won 17-straight home openers at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
