#24 East Carolina Shuts-Out Tech Softball in Five Innings

ATLANTA (April 8) – In Southern Alliance Softball Association action, East Carolina University (43-6, 1-0) put together an offensive attack which included 11 runs on 11hits to beat host Georgia Tech (22-23, 2-3) by the score of 11-0 during five innings of play Saturday afternoon. The Pirates scored in every inning, including five runs in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Jackets. Centerfielder Amekea McDougald went 4-for-4 on the afternoon and drove in three RBI while Keisha Shepperson went 3-for-4 and also drove in three RBI. The lone bright spot for Georgia Tech was centerfielder Lauren Schwartz who had two of the five Yellow Jackets hits.

Freshman Tiffany Goodman (11-13) received the loss for the Jackets as she allowed four runs on five hits and walked two.

Denise Reagan (19-2) earned the victory for the Pirates as she pitched five innings and got her eighth shut-out on the season. She allowed only five hits and struck out one. The two teams will conclude their conference series and meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Glenn Field in Atlanta, Ga.
