10 Jackets Tabbed NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Georgia Tech softball had 10 different Yellow Jackets named 2021-22 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Receiving the national academic recognition for the White and Gold were catcher Sara Beth Allen, graduated first baseman Tricia Awald, infielder Mallorie Black, infielder Bailey Chapin, infielder Grace Connelly, pitcher Chandler Dennis, outfielder Ella Edgmon, graduated outfielder Ariella Jackson, pitcher Kinsey Norton and catcher Sandra Beth Pritchett.

To receive the honor, each of the aforementioned Jackets maintained a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA for the fall and spring semesters. As a team, Tech also succeeded in the classroom, maintaining a 3.29 GPA.

Awald highlighted the group of esteemed Yellow Jackets on the field, ending her collegiate career with First Team All-ACC and NFCA Southeast Second Team All-Region honors in 2022 while rewriting Tech’s record books. The Marietta, Ga., native wrapped up her career on The Flats as the program leader in career doubles (57) and walks (169). In Yellow Jacket history, Awald also finished top six in seven different career categories and top four in six different seasonal categories all-time.

Georgia Tech’s 10 honorees helped make up 2,155 Division I student-athletes receiving recognition for their academic prowess by the NFCA. Eight of the selected Jackets will return to the field to don the White and Gold in the spring of 2023.
