Women's Basketball Visits No. 9/8 Louisville Wednesday

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball looks to extend its win streak on Wednesday, visiting No. 9/8 Louisville for a midweek matchup. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

THE STARTING FIVE…
1. Coming off an upset win over No. 24 Syracuse, Georgia Tech is back in action visiting No. 9/8 Louisville on Wednesday. Fans can listen live on WREK 91.1/WREK.org or watch on ACC Network Extra.
2. Louisville leads the all-time series against Tech 3-0 in the youthful series history. The Jackets visit Louisville for just the second time in program history on Wednesday.
3. In Tech’s victory over Syracuse, Kaylan Pugh poured in a career-high 28 points and notched her first double-double of the season behind 13 rebounds. Pugh was 12-of-16 from the charity stripe and played 36 minutes.
4. Freshman Francesca Pan picked up her third ACC Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after averaging 14.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 spg in Tech’s two wins last week.
5. Head coach MaChelle Joseph is in her 14th season on The Flats and carries an all-time career record of 265-166. Joseph is the all-time winningest coach in program history and holds the highest winning percentage in Yellow Jacket history at 61.4 percent.

A WIN WOULD…
-Move Georgia Tech to 14-4 on the season and push its road record to 4-1
-Be the first win over Louisville in program history
-Mark Coach Joseph’s 266th career win at Georgia Tech and give Georgia Tech its 641st all-time program win

LAST TIME THEY MET
Georgia Tech and Louisville met twice last season – once in the regular season and again in the ACC Tournament. The Cardinals took both decisions, including a 60-50 decision in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro as the #2-seed. Louisville grabbed the decision hitting 88.2 percent (15-17) from the free throw line and won the rebounding battle, 45-37. Tech posted only one player in double-figures in Aaliyah Whiteside with 20 points. Tech shot just 31.1 percent from the field and 76.9 percent (10-13) from the charity stripe. Returners Katarina Vuckovic, Imani Tilford and Antonia Peresson all earned the start, while Simina Avram and Zaire O’Neil saw action on the floor.

LAST TIME OUT
Georgia Tech pushed its win streak to two straight with an upset over No. 24 Syracuse last Sunday. The Jackets shot just 37.1 percent from the field, but finished 25-of-39 from the charity stripe and out-rebounded the Orange 58-46 for the win. Kaylan Pugh recorded her first double-double as a Jacket, after playing just six games, with a team-best 28 points and 13 rebounds. Tech committed a season-high 27 turnovers in the contest, allowing Syracuse to score 20 points off the miscues. The win marked the first in program history over Syracuse and the first win over a top-25 team since a 71-62 victory over No. 16/17 Duke on Feb. 26, 2015, also in McCamish.
