Georgia Tech meets its second of three-straight in-state opponents on Thursday when it welcomes West Georgia for a 7 p.m. meeting. The Yellow Jackets look to continue their winning ways for this four-game homestand after collecting a 67-47 victory over Georgia State last Friday. Through two games, freshman Dani Carnegie has led Tech offensively in each outing, chipping in 17 and 14 points, respectively, to average 15.5 points per game. Kara Dunn, who recorded her first collegiate double-double against GSU, has led the team in rebounding in both games and boats a team-best 10.5 rebounds per game average thus far.
West Georgia comes into the contest seeking its first win of the year, having fallen at Gardner-Webb and Loyola Chicago. A trio of Wolves are averaging double-figure scoring totals through two games, paced by Destiny Jones at 11.0 points per game. Zuriyah Davis and K’Nari Holliday follow right behind at 10.5 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
Thursday’s meeting will mark the first between the schools since 1985 and sixth on the hardwood. West Georgia narrowly leads the all-time series, 3-2, having taken the first three meetings between the programs from 1975-78. Georgia Tech has taken the last two (1981, 1985), both at home.

GEORGIA TECH WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CELEBRATES 50 YEARS
Georgia Tech is celebrating the 50th anniversary of women’s basketball on The Flats this season. Under the direction of coach Jim Culpepper, Georgia Tech competed its first year in the Georgia Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (GAIAW) in 1974-75 before joining the ACC in 1979-80. Tech has seen many highlights over 50 years, including playing in the NCAA Tournament 11 times, with two Sweet 16 appearances (2012, 2021), and producing nine WNBA draft picks, featuring first round draft picks Alex Montgomery and Sasha Goodlett. In its first postseason berth in school history, Georgia Tech captured the 1992 National Women’s Invitational Tournament. Currently in its sixth season under head coach Nell Fortner, the Yellow Jackets have reach postseason play three times in the last five years.
