What to Look For at Bobby Dodd Stadium: Part 1

THE FLATS – For the first time since 2019, Bobby Dodd Stadium will be at full capacity on Saturday when Georgia Tech football hosts Northern Illinois for the 2021 season opener (7:30 p.m.). This is the first in a two-part series that highlights some of the things that fans should look for when they return to The Flats this season, beginning with what to look for before entering Bobby Dodd Stadium on gameday.

TAILGATING

Tailgating returns to Georgia Tech this season, as fans are permitted to tailgate in all on-campus parking areas in 2021 (grills remain prohibited in all parking decks and garages). Season parking passes for the best tailgating areas on campus remain available to season ticket members and TECH Fund donors. For more information, visit ramblinwreck.com/footballtickets. Additional on-campus season and single-game parking spaces can be purchased by clicking HERE for season and HERE for single-game.

TAILGATE GUYS

Tailgate Guys, which offers unique and exclusive pregame tailgating packages for Georgia Tech fans, returns in 2021. Tailgate Guys offers full-season and single-game tailgating experiences that can accommodate up to 60 guests with no setup or cleanup. For more information, click HERE.

404 TAILGATE

Also for fans that want the experience of tailgating on The Flats without the fuss, the 404 Tailgate returns in 2021. Located atop Peters Parking Deck, just steps from Bobby Dodd Stadium, the 404 Tailgate features lounge seating and TVs tuned to college football action from around the ACC and the nation, as well as freshly grilled menu items, soft drinks and beer and wine available for purchase. The 404 Tailgate opens three hours prior to each game at Bobby Dodd Stadium and admission is FREE.

WRECKFEST

Wreckfest, which features pregame fun for fans of all ages, returns in 2021. Located on Callaway Plaza (on the north end of Bobby Dodd Stadium off Bobby Dodd Way), Wreckfest includes face-painting, inflatable rides, photo opportunities with Georgia Tech cheerleaders and the Ramblin’ Wreck and more. Wreckfest begins three hours prior to game time.

YELLOW JACKET ALLEY

One of Georgia Tech’s great football traditions – Yellow Jacket Alley – will have a new location in 2021. This year, head coach Geoff Collins and the Jackets will begin their pregame walk to Bobby Dodd Stadium at the corner of Fowler Street and Bobby Dodd Way (near the northwest corner of the stadium) and follow Bobby Dodd Way past Callaway Plaza to the team’s stadium entrance, just left (east) of Callaway Plaza. Fans are encouraged to line Bobby Dodd Way to welcome the Yellow Jackets to The Flats beginning two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff.

MOBILE TICKETING

Ticketing at Bobby Dodd Stadium is 100% mobile in 2021. To make entry into the stadium as efficient as possible for all fans in attendance, ticket holders should save their tickets to their mobile device before arriving at the stadium on gameday. For step-by-step instructions, visit ramblinwreck.com/mobile.

CLEAR BAG POLICY

For the safety and convenience of all fans in attendance at Bobby Dodd Stadium, Georgia Tech will return to its Clear Bag Policy from the 2019-20 academic year, which can be viewed at ramblinwreck.com/clearbag. Fans that have a bag that does not conform to the Clear Bag Policy can leave their bags at bag checks located at Gate 1 on the south end of the stadium and atop Peters Parking Deck on the north end of the stadium.

EXTREME HEAT POLICY

If forecasts call for extreme heat conditions in Atlanta, Georgia Tech will announce at least 24 hours prior to game time that fans will be permitted to bring one (1) sealed, clear water bottle, up to 20 oz., into Bobby Dodd Stadium for Tech football games. Extreme heat is defined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a long period of heat and humidity with temperatures above 90 degrees. All other aspects of Georgia Tech’s clear bag policy will remain in effect when the extreme heat policy is enacted. Free water bottle filling stations and cooling fans will be available throughout Bobby Dodd Stadium for all warm weather games, regardless of whether the extreme heat policy is in effect.

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

At Georgia Tech, everyone is encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while inside campus facilities, but face coverings are not required, including at Georgia Tech football games at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Be sure to check back to ramblinwreck.com on Thursday for Part 2 of the “What to Look For at Bobby Dodd Stadium” series. Part 2 will feature things to look for inside the stadium this fall.
