Volleyball Team Sweeps Virginia

Maja Pachale recorded 19 kills and hit .500 in the match as the Yellow Jacket volleyball team defeated Virginia in three games Saturday night, 30-23, 30-19, 30-19. With the win, Tech improves to 10-4, 6-2 in the ACC while the Cavaliers fall to 5-10, 1-7 in the conference.

The entire lineup saw action for the Jackets and several players made the most of their opportunity. Lynnette Moster recorded the first double-double of her career as she notched a career high 11 kills and 12 digs, and also posted five service aces. Jayme Gergen notched eight kills and hit .368 and added two blocks, while Dori Pap had four kills and hit .429.

The Yellow Jackets dominated the Cavaliers statistically in the match as the team hit a season-high .345, while limiting Virginia to a .157 percentage. Kele Eveland dished out 44 assists as the Yellow Jackets posted 56 kills, while holding Virginia to just 36. Tech also outdug the Cavaliers on the night, recording 60 to Virginia’s 37.

Georgia Tech will step out of conference action and play host to Arkansas (10-5) at 3 p.m. on Sunday in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
