Denver, Colo. – Cameron Tringale and Oklahoma State’s Morgan Hoffman won their fourball match, and Tringale halved his singles match on the first day of the Palmer Cup matches in Denver, Colo.

Tringale, who recently completed a stellar four-year career at Georgia Tech, teamed with Hoffman to defeat Chris Paisley and Stephan Gross, 2-up, the only USA victory in the four morning fourball matches.

Europe also captured the afternoon singles matches, 4 1/2 – 3 1/2. Tringale was two holes up on Tim Sluiter, but lost a hole at 14 with a bogey 5 and another at the par-4 16th when Sluiter birdied, and the match ended in a tie.

Friday’s final day features alternate shot matches in the morning and singles matches in the afternoon.
