THE FLATS –The Georgia Tech track and field team travels to Birmingham, Ala. for the second straight weekend to compete in the Auburn Indoor Invitational Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The one-day meet begins at 9 a.m. with the women’s weight throw and continues until 8:15 p.m. with the start of the men’s 4×400-meter relay. The running events kick off at 11:30 a.m. with women’s 3,000 meters.
The Jackets will compete against two top-25 teams on the men’s side, including host Auburn (No. 11) and ACC opponent Florida State (No. 16). On the women’s side, the competition features No. 1 Clemson, No. 11 UCF, No. 17 Georgia and No. 24 Auburn.
The first event of the day for Georgia Tech is the women’s 3,000 meters with Laura Nelson, Lauren Young, Elena Hubbard, and Diana Pressel set to compete.
Later in the day, Broderick Snoddy, Alexander Reese and Julian Darden will make their Georgia Tech track and field debuts. Snoddy will run in the 60 and 200 meters, while Reese and Darden will run their first races for Tech in the 400 meters.
Last weekend at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener, the Jackets recorded three-first place finishes and eight performances that are currently in the top-three among all ACC indoor performances this season.
