Stojanovska Leads Jackets on Final Day of Women's ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior Vesna Stojanovska finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 2:01.96 to lead the Georgia Tech women’s swimming and diving team at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday in UMD’s Campus Recreation Center.

Florida State won its first ACC meet with 596.5 points to top second-place Virginia, who turned in 562. North Carolina was third with 517 points, while Virginia Tech was fourth with 409. Maryland finished fifth with 383 points, and was followed by Clemson (374), Miami (237), NC State (206.5), Georgia Tech (189), Duke (160) and Boston College (79).

Senior Ashley Kracke clocked a NCAA `B’ standard time of 2:01.77 in the 200 backstroke to finish in seventh place for the Yellow Jackets.

Sophomore Elizabeth Stowe tallied an eighth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a NCAA `B’ cut time of 16:50.33.

Freshman Caroline Jones finished 20th for Tech in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.79. Sophomore Katie McGraw swam a time of 2:26.16.

The women’s 400 free relay team of Stojanovska, Jones, Mari McLeod and Liz Foster posted a season-best time of 3:29.23 to finish in 10th place.

On the platform, sophomores Stephanie England and Evan Stowers posted top-three finishes during the exhibition event. Stowers finished second on the men’s platform with a score of 287.20, while England finished third in the women’s platform with a score of 227.15.

The Men’s ACC Swimming Championships will take place on Feb. 22-25, in the Campus Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Maryland.
