Softball's Boyette Earns First-Team GTE All-District III Award

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech second baseman Lauren Boyett garnered first team GTE Academic all-District III softball team honors Thursday in voting by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

District III is made up of all Division I schools in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Boyett, a junior majoring in management, wields a 3.92 grade-point average while seeing action in 37 contests with four starts.

A native of Lilburn, Boyett has made the Dean’s list all nine quarters at Tech and earned Faculty honors seven times for registering a 4.0. She also nabbed National Fast Pitch Association all-America scholar honors and Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll awards in 1997 and 1998.

Members of the district first team are now eligible for the national team ballot which will be announced in early June.
