Pastner, Tech Basketball Featured in DRIVEN Series

Dec. 13, 2016

THE FLATS – DRIVEN: Josh Pastner — Bring Back the Buzz presented by Toyota debuts Sunday, December 18, at 4 p.m. ET on FOX Sports South with an encore showing at 10 p.m. ET. This latest episode of the Emmy Award-winning series will also be available on FOX Sports GO (FOXSportsGo.com), a free app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports programming through select distributors.

Josh Pastner — Bring Back the Buzz examines how Georgia Tech’s new men’s basketball head coach is embracing the challenge of leading a program back to prominence in the premier college basketball conference in the country, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

“We want to have a championship-level program,” Pastner says. “The teams we are chasing in the ACC are not coming down. If we want to move up the ladder we are going to have to go catch them.”

DRIVEN reviews Pastner’s days as a student-athlete and assistant coach with the Arizona Wildcats under Hall of Fame head coach Lute Olson as well as his time at the University of Memphis working under head coach John Calipari, whom he would replace in 2009. The show also offers inside access to practice, the film room and Pastner’s everyday life on the Georgia Tech campus, providing a comprehensive look at his vision for the Yellow Jackets’ future. That vision is being shaped by Pastner’s relentless attention to detail and consuming drive to return the program to college basketball’s elite.

“He’s very positive, he’s very enthusiastic, and he is very detail-oriented,” says assistant coach Darryl LaBarrie, who played at Georgia Tech from 1998-2001. “He will be successful wherever he is because he’s not going to leave any stone unturned.”

Also featured in the show are former Georgia Tech standouts Dennis Scott, Will Bynum and Jarrett Jack, current players Ben Lammers and Quinton Stephens, and director of basketball operations Julian Swartz, who also worked with Pastner at Memphis.

“He’s only known winning, and we are definitely building a culture,” says Stephens, a senior forward for the Yellow Jackets. “All of us came here to win and we are going to do it the right way.”

The program will air 10 times during the month of December (see schedule below).
