The No. 30 Georgia Tech men’s tennis team packs its bags for its final regular season road matches of the season, facing No. 36 NC State and No. 26 Wake Forest this weekend. The Yellow Jackets (7-8, 1-6 ACC) will first face the Wolfpack (19-6, 2-5 ACC) Friday at 2:30 p.m..in Raleigh followed by a meeting with the Demon Deacons (13-6, 5-2 ACC) Sunday at 12 p.m. in Winston-Salem.
Tech enters the weekend in 11th place in the ACC standings after defeating Virginia Tech last week for its first conference victory while Wake Forest is in a tie for third place and NC State in ninth.
“Our team is very excited to play our last road matches of the regular season,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “Our guys know that things aren’t getting any easier with NC State and Wake Forest, but we simply focusing on getting better and better each time we play a match.”
The Yellow Jackets lead the series with the Wolfpack, 22-6, including a 4-3 win during the 2005 season. Against the Demon Deacons, Tech leads the series, 20-10, and posted a 4-3 win in Atlanta last year.
“It seems that every time we have faced this season has had a great year, and a lot of that is a credit to how strong our conference is,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “You can look at our record and think we are struggling, but I think differently. We are watching video, practicing hard and getting better and good things happen if you consistently do that.”
