THE FLATS – Stewart Cink, Ollie Schniederjans and Cameron Tringale began the Florida Swing of the PGA tour in solid fashion last weekend with solid finishes at the Honda Classic to hold their positions in the FedEx Cup standings.
Cink led the way with a tie for 27th (278, -2), while Schniederjans tied for 48th (281, +1) and Tringale finished 65th (286, +6) on the treacherous PGA National Champions Course. Richy Werenski missed the cut, but none of the four players moved much in their positioning for the playoffs, all remain in the top 100.
The Tour takes a break this week while the first 2017 event in the World Golf Championships series takes place in Mexico City, with Castro and Kuchar in the field via their top-30 finishes in last year’s FedEx Cup points race. The Tour resumes next week with the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Elsewhere: James White has gotten off to a fast start in the first two events on the 2017 Swing Thought Tour, finishing fourth in each to earn $3,860.
In the opening round of The Honda Classic 2017, Stewart Cink knocks his 229-yard approach inside 3 feet, setting up a near tap-in birdie on the par-5 3rd hole.
In the second round of The Honda Classic 2017, Cameron Tringale gets one back on The Bear Trap by making a massive putt for birdie on the par-3 17th.
