REPORT: GEORGES-HUNT TO HAWKS SUMMER LEAGUE TEAM
At 28 years old, Marcus Georges-Hunt is easily the oldest player on the Hawks Summer League roster. But that shouldn’t be held against the 6’6″ shooting guard. Georges-Hunt has played in the NBA and G League – most recently for the College Park Skyhawks in 2022.

DEVOE SIGNS EXHIBIT 10 DEAL WITH CLIPPERS
While he did not get drafted during Thursday’s NBA Draft, Michael Devoe is going to get his shot in the NBA. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the Los Angeles Clippers are going to sign Devoe and give him an opportunity to compete for two way contract this summer. The report was then confirmed by Ken Sugiura of the AJC.
Michael Devoe, one of the top players to go undrafted this year, has reached a deal with the Clippers.
Last season for @GTMBB he averaged 17.9ppg, 4.9rpg, and 3.1ast. Shooting an impressive 46% from the field and 37% from deep. He was named All ACC 3rd team.

USHER SIGNS TRAINING CAMP DEAL WITH JAZZ
As the night went on the Jazz worked on adding players to the Summer League roster. They picked up Georgia Tech wing Jordan Usher, who worked out for the Jazz on June 2 and impressed in his interview after the workout, and Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn, who worked out for the team on June 7. Both players are joining the team on exhibit-10 deals.
UCLA guard Juzang agreed to a two-way deal with the Jazz shortly after the close of the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Utah Jazz did not have a pick.

YOUNG MOVING TOWARD EXTENSION WITH RAPTORS
The Toronto Raptors are working on contract extensions with guard Fred VanVleet and forward Thaddeus Young, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported on Wednesday.
VanVleet is moving toward a four-year deal worth over $110 million, while Young is expected to return to Toronto on a two-year, $10 million contract, according to the report.
Meanwhile, Young is set to become an unrestricted free agent after being traded to the Raptors prior to the NBA trade deadline. The 34-year-old averaged 6.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 26 appearances with Toronto, making an impact with his defensive presence and his playmaking skill on offence.

DERRICK FAVORS-NETS REUNION?
In a June 27, article from Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report titled, ‘1 Realistic Trade or Free-Agent Target for Every NBA Team,’ the Brooklyn Nets were linked with their former third overall pick, Derrick Favors.
“With LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond and Nic Claxton all entering free agency, what that group could use is a big man, and veteran Derrick Favors is the kind of unselfish rim protector Brooklyn should be looking for.
Over the last two seasons, Favors has gotten used to a sub-20-minutes-per-game role and doesn’t demand a ton of possessions. He’ll just take up space on defense, protect the rim, rebound, set screens and happily take a break when the Nets go small, ” Bailey wrote.
It might not take much to get Favors from the Thunder, Bailey expects the Nets could use a Trade Exception (or Taxpayer Midlevel Exception if Derrick Favors Opts Out). Favors is an excellent defender but can also still contribute offensively on occasion.

REPORTS SAY OKOGIE WILL BECOME FREE AGENT
The Timberwolves don’t intend to issue a qualifying offer to former first-round pick Josh Okogie, according to Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News.
Having completed his four-year rookie scale contract, Okogie would become a restricted free agent this offseason if Minnesota extends a qualifying offer worth $5,857,966. In that scenario, the Wolves would have the ability to match rival offer the veteran wing receives, and he’d have the option of simply accepting the one-year offer worth nearly $6MM before reaching unrestricted free agency in 2023.

PELICANS MONITORING ALVARADO’S OFFSEASON PROGRESS
The New Orleans Pelicans will continue their international scouting in the coming weeks and the prospect will be familiar. Jose Alvarado has been called in to help the Puerto Rico Basketball Federation (FBPUR) qualify for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. LSU alum Tremont Waters will join Alvarado and 22 others in San Juan for training camp. This will give the Pelicans an early look at how the undrafted star has been developing this summer.
Alvarado will help Gian Clavell and Waters lead the squad in two home games against Team USA (July 1) or Mexico (July 4) with an eye toward games against Brazil and Uruguay in August during the next FIBA window. Still, Puerto Rico can top the group with two wins from their first two home games since February 2021.
