Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Noah Norton and Tyler Strafaci have been named to the 2017-18 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Golf Team, announced Thursday by the conference office.
Norton, a freshman from Chico, Calif., and Strafaci, a sophomore from Davie, Fla., made the All-Academic team for the first time. Both student-athletes are majoring in business administration.
Norton and Strafaci both were named to the All-ACC team this spring, with Norton also being named the ACC Rookie of the Year. They were Georgia Tech’s highest ranked players in the final Golfstat rankings at the end of the spring, Strafaci at No. 54 and Norton at No. 57. They combined for six top-10 finishes and ranked 1-2 on the team in stroke average.
Tech has placed at least two of its golfers on the All-ACC Academic team each year since it was established in 2006. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Four Yellow Jackets have earned that honor – James White (twice), Ollie Schniederjans and Anders Albertson.
Ten golfers who earned All-ACC honors this season secured spots on the 2017-18 All-ACC Academic Men’s Golf Team: Clemson’s Bryson Nimmer and Doc Redman, Duke’s Alex Smalley, Florida State’s Harry Ellis, Georgia Tech’s Noah Norton and Tyler Strafaci, North Carolina’s Ben Griffin, NC State’s Stephen Franken, Virginia’s Thomas Walsh, and Wake Forest’s Cameron Young.
