The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up their doubleheader with a 6-1 win over Emory University Saturday afternoon. With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 3-0 on the year. Earlier in the afternoon, the Yellow Jackets defeated Chattanooga, 7-0.
The Yellow Jackets opened the match sweeping the doubles point as Scott Schnugg and Marko Rajevac defeated Mark Odgers and Alex Jacobs, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles, Jason Pieters and Jose Luis Muguruza paired to beat Tyson Ramsay and Josh Rubens, 8-5, at No. 2 and Joao Menano and Trevor McLeod defeated Patrick Redmond and Jesse Ferlianto, 8-3 at the No. 3 position.
In singles play, Pieters defeated Odgers at the No. 1 position, 6-0, 6-4, Schnugg beat Ramsey 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 and West Nott swept Redmond, 6-3, 6-4at the No. 3 line. In other singles matches, Menano rallied to defeat Rubens, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 while at No. 5 Zachary Rath defeated Jacobs 6-3, 6-1. Noah Tyler dropped a close two-set match at No. 6 to Yori Masuoka, 4-6, 4-6.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Thursday when they host Georgia State at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
