Johnson and Niekamp Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

Calvin Johnson and Allie Niekamp were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, September 04, 2006.

Johnson, a junior from Tyrone, Ga., caught seven passes for 111 yards and a touchdown against No. 2 Notre Dame. He recorded his seventh career 100-yard game. Johnson has caught a pass in 25 straight games and is now fifth in career receiving yards passing John Sais and Dez White with 1,836 yards. He is tied for third in career touchdown receptions with 14.

Niekamp, a sophomore from Findlay, Ohio, became just the third Yellow Jacket to register a triple-double with 10 kills, 10 digs and 44 assists against Mississippi State. She was named Georgia Tech Regency Suites Midtown Invitational MVP after leading Tech to the championship and a 3-1 record. Niekamp tallied 190 assists during the four game tournament.
