CLEMSON, S.C.  – Georgia Tech track and field wrapped up action on Saturday at the Bob Pollock Invitational with several season-best marks.

In the field events, Ksenia Novikova took fourth in the pole vault with a career-best vault of 3.95m (12-11.50), while Preston Smith placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.93m (45-8.50).

“We had some good performances this weekend highlighted today by some nice personal bests for the 200m runners and the pole vaulters,” head women’s track coach Alan Drosky said. “The 4x400m relay competed well and the 800m was another good event for us.”

On the track, Malin Trollsas took eighth in the 600-meter run (1:46.49) and Brittany Powell placed 11th in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:15.92. John Lyons had a top 10 finish in the 800 meters, placing ninth with a season-best time of 1:54.12.

“With few exceptions, I think we looked a little flat this weekend,” head men’s track coach Grover Hinsdale said. “Today however, Zach Gunnz looked good in the 200m. We need to get back to work this week and prepare for a very competitive meet at Note Dame next weekend.”

Brianna Hayden crossed the line eighth in the 200 meters in a season-best time of 24.34. On the men’s side, Zachary Gunnz tied for fourth in the same event in a time of 21.50.

The Yellow Jacket women’s 4×400-meter relay team comprised of Domonique Hall, Marinice Bauman, Lindsey Wheeler and Denise Woode placed fifth with a season-best time of 3:46.67.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Feb. 3-4 at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
