ATLANTA – Three members of the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team have been selected to compete in the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships, which begins this weekend with the prequalifying draw and continue through the main draw finals on Oct. 8.
David North, a junior from Durban, South Africa, is scheduled to begin play at 1 p.m. Saturday after earning a bye in the first round as one of the top 16 seeded players in the prequalifying bracket. He will meet the winner of the Rodrigo Souza (Old Dominion) – Juan Gomez (Northwestern) match, which begins at 8 a.m. the same day in the second round.
North will also team with senior transfer Eric Molnar in doubles play, with the duo beginning competition Oct. 3 in the first round of the qualifying bracket. The 29th-ranked doubles tandem advanced to the finals of their last tournament, the Baylor Invitational, last weekend before falling 8-6 to Wichita State’s Goran Vujaklija and Boris Gubic in the championship.
Molnar, ranked No. 31 in the nation in singles, has earned a bye through the prequalifying and qualifying brackets and will start singles play Oct. 5 in the main draw, as will 93rd-ranked Jordan Delass, who received a bye through the first two tournaments after capturing the 2006 ITA National Summer Championship in August.
