ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team (7-4) will host Gardner-Webb (1-4) on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader at Glenn Field. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
Head coach Ehren Earleywine will be honored before the game in recognition of his 100th career win on Feb. 15th. Earleywine is the fifth-fastest coach in Division I fastpitch softball history to reach 100 career wins, doing so in 135 games.
Tech finished 1-1 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic Tournament last weekend. The Jackets were tied with No. 7 Alabama, 2-2, heading into the seventh inning, but the Crimson Tide homered in the seventh to defeat Tech 3-2. The Yellow Jackets responded with a 3-1 victory over Hofstra. The rest of the tournament was washed out.
Sophomore catcher Savannah Brown leads the offensive charge for the Jackets. Brown is hitting .438, with two doubles, one home run and 10 runs batted in.
In the circle, sophomore right-handed pitcher Whitney Humphreys leads the way with a 4-1 record. Humphreys has 28 strikeouts in 30.2 innings pitched, and carries a 2.05 earned run average.
