CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Georgia Tech baseball dueled it out with No. 13/14 Boston College, but two home runs proved to be the difference-maker in the 3-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village.
The Yellow Jackets (17-10, 6-5 ACC) got a fine start from RHP Jackson Finley (1-3) despite receiving the loss. He surrendered juts three runs on five hits with five strikeouts in the outing. RHP Aeden Finateri then took over and tossed three scoreless innings to close, saving much of the bullpen for the rubber game.
At the plate, Tech was able to record eight hits on the day, but finished 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position, scoring its lone run on a Nicholas Romano RBI double that scored Finley from first.
Kristian Campbell led the way overall with a 3-for-3 day and a walk, while Angelo Dispigna went 2-for-2 with two walks. Jake DeLeo also contributed a hit while Drew Compton hit a sure-fire double in the second inning that he couldn’t complete after suffering an injury.
The 13th-ranked Eagles were led by Travis Honeyman, who went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Despite eight hits as well, BC was held to 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position for the game. RHP Chris Flynn (6-1) got the win after holding Tech to just one run on six hits with nine strikeouts. RHP Andrew Roman got his sixth save of the season.
