Eric Henderson, Georgia Tech’s all-Atlantic Coast Conference defensive end, is one 54 players who have been named to the preliminary 2004 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List.
This year, the Rotary Lombardi Award will celebrate the 35th year of honoring the finest linemen in college football. The annual Rotary Lombardi Award Dinner will be held in Houston on December 8, with all net proceeds from the dinner and related activities adding to the total of nearly $3 million that has been raised for the American Cancer Society since the events inception.
A rising junior from New Orleans, La., Henderson earned first-team all-ACC honors last fall as he led the league with 11 quarterback sacks, along with a Tech season-record 24 tackles for loss. The 6-3, 265-pounder has 16 career sacks.
Henderson, who was also named to the 2003 ACC All-Academic team, helped the Yellow Jackets to their seventh consecutive winning season (7-6) and seventh straight bowl game, a 52-10 victory over Tulsa in the Humanitarian Bowl.
