Georgia Tech's Jayme Gergen Named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week

Georgia Tech’s Jayme Gergen was named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, after helping the Yellow Jackets sweep Central Florida, Duke and Wake Forest last week.

The senior middle blocker led off the week with eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage against UCF. She also contributed five digs, three blocks and one service ace in the match.

Versus the Blue Devils, Gergen posted 13 kills and no errors, while hitting .565. The Topeka, Kan., native notched 12 kills and a .429 hitting percentage two days later against the Demon Deacons. She also added seven blocks and five digs in the match.

Gergen, whose Yellow Jackets are 21-5 and have won 19 straight matches, recorded 25 kills and only three hitting errors, while hitting .500 against ACC opponents. She leads Tech and the ACC in hitting percentage, with a .406 mark on the season.

This is the second time this season that Gergen has earned the award and the fifth time in 2004 that a player from Georgia Tech has been named ACC Player of the Week.
