KUCHAR TIES FOR 27TH IN MEXICO

Matt Kuchar enjoyed a solid weekend at the World Technology Championship at Mayakoba, site of one of his nine PGA Tour victories, tying for 27th place with a 13-under-par score of 271.

Kuchar has played three events in the 2022-23 season on the PGA Tour, finishing no lower than 29th place, with a high finish of 12th at the Fortinet Championship, and sits No. 62 in the FedEx Cup points standings.

From Golf Digest after his first two rounds: But his track record at El Camaleon continues to carry over following rounds of 66 and 67 that have him heading into the weekend inside the top 10. But don’t expect any extra grinding over the weekend with a potential 10th PGA Tour title on the line. Especially because it sounds like he’s in the middle of a real page-turner.

“No, this will be take advantage of being at a beautiful place, hang on the beach, kind of chill out,” Kuchar said. “Been working on a book I’m hoping to finish this week, so I’ve got a couple little not-too-exciting activities, but it’s a great place to kind of chill and relax a little bit.”

Paul Haley II and Richy Werenski failed to make the cut in Mexico last weekend, and will try again this weekend at the Cadence Bank Houston Open, where Stewart Cink and Chesson Hadley return to action. Anders Albertson is an alternate.

HADLEY ON WALL OF FAME IN MEXICO

When you start listing golf’s all-time great players, there are certain obvious people you can’t leave out. You know, names like Jack Nicklaus. Tiger Woods. Arnold Palmer. Chesson Hadley. Wait, what?

Such was the double take one PGA Tour pro took when glancing at a wall featuring some of the game’s legends—and, well, Chesson Hadley. No offense to Chesson. As a PGA Tour pro, let alone a PGA Tour winner, he’s better than 99.99 percent of people who have ever picked up a golf club on this planet. The finger snapping, Bojangles lover just seems out of place in this particular spot, which we believe to be at El Camaleon Golf Club.

OGLETREE BACK IN ACTION ON ASIAN TOUR

Andy Ogletree returned to action for the last two International Series events on the Asian Tour but missed the cut in last weekend’s event in Morocco. The final event is this weekend in Egypt.

Ogletree, who signed to play the first LIV Golf event in London, has competed in four International Series events, and posted a high finish of a tie for 15th place in Korea.
