Friday's Game Halted Due to Rain

April 1, 2016

THE FLATS – Torrential rains and the threat of more inclement weather halted Friday night’s series opener between Duke and No. 18 Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium. When the game was stopped at 9:20 p.m., it was a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Play will resume at 2 p.m. Saturday. The second game will be played approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of Friday’s resumption. Both games will be broadcast on WREK 91.1 FM.

Georgia Tech (19-5, 5-4 ACC) took a 2-0 lead in the 4th. After 3.5 innings, Georgia Tech (19-5, 5-4 ACC) finally broke the scoreless tie on Kel Johnson’s solo home run off the light pole in right-center. Tristin English later drove in Tech’s second run on an RBI double down the left field.

Tech’s lead didn’t last for long as Duke (12-13, 2-7 ACC) tied the game in the 5th. Justin Bellinger crushed a 2-run home run over the right field fence to tie it at 2-2.
