ATLANTA – The 2004 Outdoor NCAA Track and Field Championships will air on CBS (WGCL in Atlanta) on Saturday, June 19, from 4-6 p.m. The outdoor NCAA meet was held in Austin, Texas, on the campus of the University of Texas last weekend. Witness seven Yellow Jackets compete in the finals, including sophomore Chaunte Howard’s national championship in the women’s high jump.
Senior sprinter Amandi Rhett will be featured in the finals of the 200-meter dash for Tech, finishing the national championship meet with three All-America honors (100, 200, 4×100).
Senior Brendon Mahoney ran in the finals of the 1500 meters for Tech, earning All-America honors for the third time in his career.
Junior Montrell Person advanced to the finals at the NCAA meet in the 110-meter high hurdles with a personal-record time of 13.53 in the prelims of the event. Person earned All-America honors for the first time in his career.
The women’s 4x100m relay team of Dana Rogers, Ashlee Kidd, Andriane Lapsley and Rhett qualified for the finals of the event and became the first Tech relay team to earn All-America honors in the 4×100.
The Georgia Tech women’s track and field team tied for 15th place, its highest finish ever at the Outdoor NCAA Championships.
