Brandon Makinson Named ACC Men's Diver Of The Week

Oct. 16, 2012

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior diver Brandon Makinson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Diver of the Week after a record-setting performance in Saturday’s season opener.

Makinson won both springboard diving events against College of Charleston on Saturday at the GT Aquatic Center, as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Cougars, 187-99. The native of Alberta, Canada broke his own school record on the 3-meter board as his score of 408.85 bettered his previous record of 408.10 that he set at the 2011 ACC Championship.

This is the third career ACC weekly honor for Makinson, who is the reigning ACC silver-medalist on the 1-meter and won the bronze on the 3-meter board as a sophomore.

Makinson and the Jackets are back in action Wednesday afternoon versus Georgia at the GT Aquatic Center at 4 p.m.
