THE FLATS – After being one of three finalists last season, Georgia Tech fifth-year place kicker Aidan Birr (Kennedale, Texas/Kennedale H.S.) is one of 35 players on the official watch list for the 2026 Lou Groza Award. The Groza Award is presented annually to college football’s top place kicker.
Birr connected on 25-of-29 field goals and 45-of-45 extra points for 120 points last season, en route to becoming only the second Groza Award finalist from Georgia Tech in the 34-year history of the award (Scott Sisson was also a finalist in 1992, the inaugural year of the award). Birr’s 25 field goals made and 120 kicking points in 2025 were both single-season school records, while the 120 points also tied for 10th in Atlantic Coast Conference single-season kick-scoring history. He ranked third nationally in field goals per game (1.92), fifth in kick scoring (9.2 ppg) and was named third-team All-America and first-team all-ACC in addition to being one of the Groza Award’s three finalists.
With 57 career field goals, 298 kicking points and a .826 field-goal percentage, Birr is on pace to shatter Georgia Tech’s all-time records in all three categories (61 field goals by Travis Bell from 2004-07, 337 kicking points by Harrison Butker from 2013-16 and .732 by Scott Blair from 2007-10).
Off the field, Birr has earned two degrees from Georgia Tech in just four years – a bachelor’s degree in business administration in May 2025 and a master’s in management in May 2026.

Birr and the Yellow Jackets opened fall camp this week in preparation for its season opener on Thursday, Sept. 3 versus Colorado. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field and the opener will be televised nationally on ESPN.
2026 GEORGIA TECH FOOTBALL TICKETS
2026 Georgia Tech football season, mini-plan and single-game tickets are on sale now. In addition to the opener versus Colorado, the Yellow Jackets’ highly anticipated seven-game home schedule at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field features another massive non-conference tilt against Tennessee (Saturday, Sept. 12 – 7 p.m., ESPN), as well as ACC battles against defending conference champion Duke (Oct. 10) and 2025 bowl winners Louisville (Nov. 7) and Wake Forest (Nov. 21).
Season Tickets
With one of the most attractive home schedules in school history, coming on the heels of back-to-back sellout crowds to close out the 2025 campaign, the only way to guarantee the best seats for all seven games at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in 2026 is by being a season ticket member. Georgia Tech posted a 9-4 overall record (tied for the 10th-most victories in Tech’s 133-season football history) and No. 24 final national ranking in 2025. The Jackets rose to as high as No. 7 in the national rankings and were ranked in the final 14 national polls of the season, which was their longest streak since Tech was ranked in all 16 polls in 1999.
Georgia Tech also went 6-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play in ‘25, which was good for a tie for second place in the 17-team conference. The Yellow Jackets are the only ACC team that has finished in the top four of the conference standings each of the last three seasons.
Full Steam Ahead
Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics.
