THE FLATS – Richard Biagiotti and Gabriele Brancatelli continued their successful run in the ITA Southeast Regionals on Saturday after three days of the tournament. As a doubles pair, Biagiotti and Brancatelli secured a spot in the semifinals, while Biagiotti posted a pair of singles wins to advance to the quarterfinals.
Kicking off Saturday, Biagiotti and junior Brancatelli (Florence, Italy) dominated Florida Atlantic University’s Jiri Jenicek and Juan Martin Jalif (8-3) to advance to the semifinals.
Freshman, Biagiotti (Denmark) had a helluva day, adding a pair of singles wins along with his doubles victory. In his first match of the day, Biagiotti beat Georgia’s Thomas Paulsell 6-2,7-6 to advance. In the Round of 16, Biagiotti defeated USF’s Erik Grevelius in identical (6-4) sets sealing a spot in the quarterfinals.
Freshman Krish Arora (Newport Beach, California) had a singles match today against KSU’s Raul Garcia. Arora would fall to Garcia (4-6,3-6).
Sunday marks day four of the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament. Doubles play is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. with semifinals and finals, singles competition will follow and is set to begin at approximately 1:00 p.m.
